Introduction:

The City Day Regatta was initiated in 2000 when Kota Kinabalu was elevated to City Status. It was to celebrate the importance of the sea as a recreational area for the residents of Kota Kinabalu and an attraction for tourists. Kota Kinabalu celebrates the 10th Year as a City with the 11th City Day Regatta.
 
1.  The Organiser, Kinabalu Yacht Club (KYC) and Dewan Bandaraya Kota Kinabalu (DBKK) has pleasure in inviting sailors from various recognised sailing clubs to participate in the 10th City Day Regatta 2010 on Saturday, 06th – Sunday, 07th February 2010.

2.  The venue shall be the Kinabalu Yacht Club and the races shall be conducted at the sea in front of Kinabalu Yacht Club and the nearby scenic islands of the Tengku Abdul Rahman Park.

3.  A minimum of three (3) boats is required to make a class which shall be as follows :-

a. Int. 470
b. Int. 420
c. Laser / Laser Radial
d. Sail Board
e. Optimist Div. A (born '95-97), Div. B (born '98-'99, Div.C (born 2000 and later)
f. Optimist Novice Class (Any sailor who has not taken part in any major regattas)

4.  The respective class rules apply, together with the ISAF Racing Rules of Sailing 2009-2012, the Sailing Instructions, this Notice of Race and rule changes on the Official Notice Board.

5.  Entry forms must be submitted before the 15th January 2010. Late entries shall be accepted at the discretion of KYC.

6.  Registration shall be on 05th February 2010 from 10.00 am – 12.00 noon and on 06th February 2010 from 8.00 am – 9.00 am. Acceptance of registrations outside of these times shall be at the discretion of KYC.

7.  The registration fee is RM70.00 per participant and the fee for Optimist is RM50.00. Reciprocal clubs of KYC may apply for a reduced registration fee by writing in to KYC.

9.  All meals and light refreshments shall be provided to registered participants and their Team Managers or Coaches.  At KYC’s discretion, other registered accompanying team supporters may be given refreshments and meals.

0800 hrs - Registation, boat allocation and rigging

1000 hrs - Race Briefing

1030 hrs - Opening Ceremony

1100 hrs - Start Racing

                Lunch may be served on land or at sea

1800 hrs - Dinner & social gathering

SUNDAY - 07th FEBRUARY 2010

0930hrs - Rig boats

1000 hrs - Start of races

1130 hrs - Lunch on land or at sea

1500 hrs - Last possible start of races

1700 hrs - Prize giving and closing ceremony with tea party
 
11.  There shall be a rule in the Sailing Instructions requiring all competitors to wear a buoyancy aid while afloat or racing. KYC regrets being unable to supply any buoyancy aids. In addition, the Int. 470/420s allows the crew to trapeze. KYC regrets being unable to supply any trapeze harnesses.

12.  Class of boats and availability:  Int. 470s, Int. 420s, Lasers, Laser Radials, Optimists, Trainer Optimists.  No issued boats may be changed during the entire regatta unless the Beach Master is satisfied that a replacement boat is required. Entries may be rejected if a particular class is over subscribed. Early submissions of entries are encouraged to ensure a boat.

13.  The Boat Charter Fees are as follows (Standard Malaysian Charter Rates)

Optimist without sails - RM 100.00
Laser / Radial without sails - RM 150.00
Int. 470/420s without sails - RM 200.00

Boat Damage Deposit  RM 100.00 each refundable

A regatta discount may be offered at the discretion of the KYC Regatta Organizing Committee.
